The inside of the temple is even darker with the presence of ghoulish artefacts ranging from witches, smashed infants and other relics. The daring traveller keen to explore the dark side of this temple may catch a glimpse of several carvings that depict the struggle between gods of life and demons of death. Add to this the bats that reside in Pura Dalem Sidan, and it is easy to see why this temple would make a number of visitors uneasy.
Depending on the time of your visit to the temple, you may come across Balinese locals honouring the memories of their departed loved ones by throwing the ash to the sea.
The temple is located approximately 1.5kms from the main road leading up to Ubud and is easily accessible by taxi. There is no entrance fee, however, donations are gratefully accepted. Visitors must ensure that they wear a sarong to cover knees and ankles. Also, make sure that shoulders and midriffs are covered.
